Three years ago I did a bike tour in Ireland. In Dublin, I was delighted at how the bicycle was intergrated into the fabric of the modern city life.
Middle age ladies in cotton print dresses, purses over their shoulder, pedaling to and fro on work days. Men in sports coats and lace up oxfords, brief cases loaded on the rear fender rack; all those bicycles rolling along the canals, lined with house boats, those too, with bicycles perched on top or somewhere on the gunwale.
